LED walls
LED walls and LED displays have become indispensable in today's media landscape. With their brilliant brightness and high reliability, they are used in many areas of modern communication.
VICOM designs, supplies, and installs LED displays in all common standard sizes as well as custom-made solutions. Naturally, we also handle maintenance and technical service.
In addition, VICOM offers the corresponding control software.
For advertising and information dissemination: The digital signage package VICOM VisGuide or ShowCreator, and for cultural events such as opera or theatre, the surtitle software VICOM SurtitlePro .
We always use the latest technologies and expertise. Our customers can therefore always be sure that the installations have the legally required certifications.
The right LEDs for your application
There are numerous different LED configurations. Our task is to select the best one for your project from all the possibilities.
First and foremost, the optimal pixel pitch must be chosen for the application. If it is too large, the viewer can see the individual pixels, resulting in a negative image impression. If the pixel pitch is too small, the viewer will certainly no longer be able to see individual pixels, but the system will become disproportionately expensive.
VICOM offers customized solutions for all applications. For outdoor use, in addition to the standard RRGB configurations (top left image), we also offer the modern RGB arrangement (top center image). The advantages here are increased contrast and optimized cooling.
SMD LEDs, often referred to as all-in-one LEDs, are used for indoor applications. Their design is extremely compact. The primary color LEDs are integrated into a single, small element. This results in extremely homogeneous images, even at close range. SMD LEDs can be manufactured with a minimum spacing of 3 mm, making them suitable even for use in conference rooms.
LED modules
In SMD technology, the red, green, and blue LEDs are encapsulated in a small, compact package, so that a pixel is only visible as a single point.
These are sometimes used on outdoor walls. By using two red LEDs per pixel, a very high light intensity is achieved. At a sufficient distance, the eye can no longer distinguish the individual LEDs.
Strip displays are often used in stage shows. The strip arrangement of the LEDs makes the displays appear semi-transparent.
Unlike the left module, this one uses special SMDs. They are encased in a dark plastic, which increases the contrast.
This LED arrangement is used on outdoor or indoor walls. The LEDs are smaller than in the example on the left. The additional black background area creates a higher contrast.
The right enclosures for your application
VICOM offers you the best option for your application from a wide variety of enclosures and enclosure variants.
Our various enclosure designs ensure maximum flexibility. This applies first and foremost to the different sizes. The standard version is made of steel; alternatively, aluminum is often available at an additional cost. Outdoor enclosures are IP65-rated with special seals. Depending on the application, the enclosures can be designed to be freestanding and/or suspended.
In the rental sector, slimline enclosures are primarily used because their light weight makes handling particularly easy and often eliminates the need for a crane. For shop window displays, our Eco enclosures are preferred. While they are heavier than other models, they are unbeatable in terms of price. Brightness sensors can be integrated to minimize power consumption.
Case shapes
This case has no fans, thus enabling silent operation in opera houses, theaters, foyers, etc. Weighing only 8 kg and featuring quick-release mechanisms, silent cases are easy to assemble.
Strip displays are used in stage shows. The strip arrangement of the LEDs makes the displays appear semi-transparent. They are also ideally suited for facade applications due to their cost-effectiveness.
The steel sheet housing is primarily used for permanent installations. Eco is the most cost-effective housing design.
This housing is made of die-cast aluminum, making it particularly torsion-resistant and lightweight. Quick-release fasteners significantly simplify assembly.
Quality
One of the most important criteria for purchasing a VICOM LED wall is its exceptionally high quality. Every single production stage concludes with a long-term test. For example, once the LED modules have been manufactured, as shown in the left image, they are operated for 48 hours at full load with controlled temperature and humidity, so that any potential defects become apparent under these extreme conditions.
These defects can be easily identified at this stage and repaired without high costs. Afterwards, the modules undergo another 48-hour endurance test. Then, they are installed in the housings. The contact reliability within each individual housing is confirmed on a vibration table. Finally, the IP65 water resistance is tested in an immersion tank. Once all production stages are completed, all LED walls undergo a final 48-hour comprehensive test under real-world conditions.
All walls are assembled in their original size and tested as a complete unit with video playback. Clean and professional workmanship is the foundation for a perfectly functioning system. Maintenance contracts can, of course, be arranged for VICOM LED walls at any time, ensuring the customer always has the assurance of a top-maintained system.
